What is the Colorado Emergency Notification System?

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response’s Colorado Emergency Notification System is a web-based multi-channel communications system for sending appropriate Health Alert Network Alerts and other Emergency Notification information to medical and emergency response professionals.

How can I register?

Online registration is available for healthcare professionals and emergency response professionals who would like to receive notifications. Click the “Register Now” button on the home page to begin the registration process. Registration requests will be vetted and are not guaranteed.

What type of information do I need to provide to register with this System?

When you register you will need to agree to the terms of the service, and will then be asked to provide information specific to you, your role at your agency, and your preferred method of communication.

Is my information safe?

Every possible step relating to data integrity and security is taken in order to prevent abuse and protect participants’ privacy. Please review the privacy policy and contact us if you would like further information.

Why was my registration request denied?

Registration requests can be denied for various reasons and will be provided to the potential participant. Some reasons might include the lack of information provided during registration; multiple parties at the same agency are already in the system, duplicate registration requests, etc.

How can I change information that I provide on my account registration?

Once you have completed the registration process and your request has been approved, you will be able to log in to your account using your username and password to update your account information.

If I already have an account in the CVM System, will I need to register again with this system?

Yes, this system is different than the CVM so you will need to register again.

What are the types of notifications that are sent via the Colorado Emergency Notification System?

Health Alert Network notifications, Emergency Notification via email, fax, and/or phone, and Staff Call Down notifications.

What are the Categories of Health Alert Messages?

Health Alert: this conveys the highest level of importance; warrants immediate action or attention

Health Advisory: this provides important information for a specific incident of situation

Health Update: this provides updated information regarding an incident or situation; unlikely to require immediate action

Health Information: this provides general health info matron which is not considered to be of an emergent nature

HAN Drill/Test: this is for required drills or tests of the system; sometime action will be required
